Your new role

The Art Therapist/Social Inclusion Worker is a part-time role (22.8 hours per week) that focuses on building on RHPP resident’s capacity to:

  • Connect and participate in mainstream community, including participation in a range of activities at 69 Queens Road, RHPP. Art therapy is a central component of the position.
  • Ensure that RHPP provides the highest quality, most effective and supportive services to residents in accordance with SHM’s values and legislative and funding requirements.
  • Support the Program Coordinator to oversee the delivery of art therapy and social inclusion services to residents of 69 Queens Rd.

Your day-to-day

  • Support Guide and mentor staff in the development of social inclusion and art therapy skills activities.
  • Participate in the support of students on placement at RHPP
  • Undertake assessments, care planning and care coordination activities required to meet the diverse needs of the residents in accordance with MHCSS standards and guidelines
  • Facilitate the application of Social Inclusion principles into day-to-day work practices.
  • Conduct art therapy in the studio and engage residents in the program
  • Foster and develop positive relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly SHM Community Services Coordinators, Community Housing Ltd staff, Volunteers, and Partnership agencies providing services to RHPP residents.

We're looking for someone with 

  • Qualifications and experience relevant to the delivery of social inclusion and art therapy services
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and ability to develop and maintain a supportive work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and respond professionally to staff and client related situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, liaise and support clients from divergent backgrounds and in various workplace situations, including responding to challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to enhancing systems and procedures to create operational improvements.
  • Experience in developing work practices to achieve team goals.
  • Art therapy and social inclusion experience.
  • Ability to motivate self and support others to work more effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain relaxed, composed and focused during a crisis
