Spiritual Care Worker
Job No:
SHM620
Location:
St. Kilda
Your future workplace
Sacred Heart Mission (SHM) works with people whose capacity to participate fully in community life is affected by deep, persistent disadvantage and social exclusion. Since opening our doors in 1982, the Mission has been providing a range of innovative, relationship-based service responses which enable people to overcome disadvantage and realize their full potential. As a trauma informed organization, our shared recognition of the impact of trauma informs and guides all our interactions with the people who access our services. The Engagement Hub services at Sacred Heart Central and the Women’s House provide people with a safe space that is welcoming and supportive. Hub services provide access to the necessities of life: healthy food, clothing and emergency relief.
Your new role
You will be part of the Client Support Team within the Health & Wellbeing Team, with the responsibility of responding to the diverse emotional, spiritual and religious needs of people accessing our Engagement Hubs. Your resilience, grit and persistence will have you building relationships that last for a long time. This position is roughly 5 hours a day, 8:30am - 2pm, 5 days a week.
Your day-to-day
You will be pivotal and central to the team. A typical day would have you spending time in our Engagement Hubs assertively outreaching to the men and women who access our Services. Bring your own creativity, passion for people and open-mindedness to meeting and greeting our clients. You’ll be constantly building positive relationships with staff, volunteers and people experiencing homelessness.
