Pastoral Care Worker - Ongoing Support

Your new role

The Pastoral care person will work with our teams to provide meaningful high quality, effective, culturally relevant support for the clients in our Residential Services

The role with also include mentoring/supervising social work/pastoral care students The pastoral care person will also provide support for the Parish Priest and the Pastoral Care person at Sacred Heart Central.

Your day-to-day

A typical day will involve meeting with your colleagues to ascertain special needs areas. Working with and supervising volunteers, undertaking assessment and documentation to support resident holistic care needs. Assisting residents to develop Advanced Care Plans and Life Stories. Working with the Parish Priest with the preparation and celebration of funeral services and other Mission celebrations. Writing eulogies for our residents who have died

We're looking for someone

  • Who is able to effectively respond to the needs of people of all age groups who live with mental illness and have experienced trauma and homelessness.
  • With a minimum of one year post graduate experience
  • Who is motivated, keen to learn, team focused and with strong interpersonal skills
  • Who demonstrates compassion and a commitment to social justice
