Your new role
The aim of the Bethlehem Community Program is to help women break the cycle of homelessness by providing residents with stable, short to medium accommodation and support provision. Bethlehem Community supports single women, unaccompanied by dependents, aged over 35, who have experienced homelessness and/or alcohol or other drug dependency issues, live with mental health, intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities and, who are socially isolated and disadvantaged.
Bethlehem Community provides a 10-bed supported accommodation facility in Reservoir; support provision includes meals provision, room cleaning, daily living skills development, recreation and social inclusion activity and case management.
Your day-to-day
- Providing timely and targeted support to residents including direct care and interpersonal support in accordance with SHM values and relevant legislation
- Undertaking domestic and housekeeping tasks related to the needs of the women and the service setting
- Maintain positive relationships with Unison Community Housing, Bethlehem Community volunteers and residents' families and carers.
- Maintaining resident database and file notes in a timely and professional manner
- Attend and participate in regular supervision sessions
We're looking for a female support worker who is
- Ready to provide a safe and welcoming environment for women who stay at our supported accommodation program
- Experienced in client service delivery including the capacity to manage challenging behaviours and crisis situations
- Able to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and deliver a client centred service
- A team player, prepared to work together to support women achieve the outcomes they desire
- Certificate or Diploma level qualification/s in Residential, Community Services, or related field
You can look forward to
- A part-time permanent role offering 40 hours in the first fortnight & 32 hours in the second fortnight across Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays (sleepovers)- rostering on a monthly basis
- $39.82 - $42.70 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
