Your New Role

Homefront is a program of Sacred Heart Mission's Women’s Services that provides crisis accommodation and is committed to delivering a gender specific response to the needs of women experiencing homelessness and other associated issues.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced female permanent part-time Support Worker to work at Homefront to be responsible for providing the information, support, and case management to women who access the program across a 3-week rotating roster including evening, sleepover and weekend shifts. 

Your Day-to-Day

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide support to women residing in our crisis accommodation facility, helping them attain or maintain a sense of safety, stability and hope. 
  • Assist women with orientation to Homefront but also preparation for moving on towards securing safe and sustainable housing.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members through teamwork and handovers.

We're looking for a female Support Worker with:  

  • Availability to work weekend and solo sleepover shifts.
  • A Certificate or Diploma level qualification/s in a related field.
  • Experience in effectively responding and de-escalating challenging behaviors and crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently on solo shifts. 
  • Commitment to working within a feminist, person-centered, strength’s based and culturally responsive practice framework.
  • Team focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Pay Classification Social and Community Services Employee Level 3 ($38 - 41 per hour) plus Sleepover Allowance.
