Your new role

This is an exciting time in Sacred Heart Mission’s history, as we embark on the implementation of our bold new strategic plan, Strategy 2030: Serving more people and more communities 

In this role, as Head of Homeless Services you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, integrated, and person-centred services for individuals experiencing homelessness. 

Reporting to the Director of Services, you will oversee multiple programs, drive continuous improvement, embed trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and ensure our services are responsive to the needs of the community.

Your day-to-day

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across SHMs homelessness services.
  • Overseeing and mentoring Program Managers, across multiple SHM programs, ensuring excellence in service delivery.
  • Developing and embedding best practice frameworks, including Housing First and sustaining tenancies.
  • Contributing to service improvement initiatives to enhance quality, impact, and participant outcomes.
  • Partnering with external organisations, government agencies, and community groups to address service gaps and drive systemic change.
  • Embedding lived experience and participant voice into service design and decision-making.

We're looking for someone with

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Public Health, or a related field. 
  • Extensive leadership experience in homelessness, social services, or a related sector.
  • Proven ability to oversee complex service delivery, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement, partnerships, and advocacy.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, housing, and social policy, including funding models and compliance requirements.
  • Experience embedding lived experience into service delivery.

  • Salary range of $145,000 - $155,000 per annum.
