Your New Role

We are seeking dedicated and experienced female Support Workers to join Sacred Heart Mission (SHM) on a casual basis. We are looking for casuals that will be available to work at our Homefront - Women's Services and/or Bethlehem Community - Women's Services over a variety of shifts that includes evening, sleepover and weekend shifts.

Your Day-to-Day

Homefront Support Worker

Join Homefront, where we provide crisis accommodation, support, and case management to women experiencing homelessness and social disadvantage. As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide support to women residing in our crisis accommodation facility, helping them attain or maintain a sense of safety, stability and hope. 
  • Assist women with orientation to Homefront but also preparation for moving on towards securing safe and sustainable housing.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members through teamwork and handovers.

Bethlehem Residential Support Worker

At Bethlehem Community, work with women experiencing disadvantage in a 10-bed supported residential setting located in Reservoir. In this role, you will:

  • Provide support including meal provision, room cleaning, daily living skills development, recreation and social inclusion activities and case management. 
  • Assist residents in reaching their full potential by improving their independence and building relationships in a home-like environment.
  • Ensure residents adhere to house rules to enable the facility to be as home-like as possible.

Essentials for Success

  • Able to work across a wide variety of shifts, including weekend and solo sleepover shifts.
  • Certificate or Diploma level qualification/s in a related field.
  • Experienced in effectively responding to challenging behaviors and crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently on solo shifts. 
  • Committed to working within a feminist, person-centered, strength’s based and culturally responsive practice framework.
  • Team focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
